Hello, Everyone! First of all, I just wanted to send a huge thank you to all of you. It is not easy to start something new and put yourself out there, but all of you have been incredibly supportive - thank you so much.
My hope for this Update is to give everyone a quick sense of where we are, where we’re going, and a few lessons learned through the first few months of Brym!
Where we are:
Our Website, Linkedin, and Podcast are live! Please follow along to receive updates and engage.
5 Case Studies published so far on different innovative climate solutions.
5 Podcast Episodes published —> 1 intro episode + 4 Interviews with innovators across the world.
100 people (Almost) in our community network who receive bi-weekly updates right through this newsletter.
30+ individuals and organizations organized into a core network, helping develop Brym and identifying ways in which we can evolve.
Where we are going:
‘Season 1’ of Brym will continue through the end of June, 2022 - producing 14 total case studies and interview podcasts. We will continue to post bi-weekly on Thursday mornings, potentially throw in some additional short updates along the way, then take a look at our progress in July and decide where we go from there.
Special Projects: There are many different projects that have been proposed to Brym by organizations across the world - we’re excited to evaluate and pursue these - updating everyone as they develop.
Mini-Thesis: based on our learnings from Season 1, our goal will be to produce a whitepaper / report that draws a through-line narrative, highlighting different themes and evaluating what next steps make sense for Brym.
Lessons Learned:
Shorter is better - I will work on packaging case studies and interviews into more bite-size pieces then expand on ideas in the Thesis!
Process can be the Story - Starting this has not been easy, maybe I can tell more about that process along the way.
Build Conversation and Dialogue - Shout out to Steve Chiu at the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation for suggesting that we have multiple guests on podcasts rather than just 1:1. He’s experienced this as a better medium for real partnerships to form between organizations facing similar challenges. We might think about this for Season 2!
Think Big - It’s ok to cast the net wide. I’m not sure yet where Brym will focus its energy over the coming years, and that’s exciting.
Be Patient - The answer for how Brym can be a meaningful part of the conversation will not come overnight. It takes time and it’s important to be patient with yourself. Be careful not to create a business model ‘just because TL thinks it’s should be this way’. Instead, enjoy the process of research and gathering information from others on what evolutions could have the most important impact.
If there are other things you think we could be doing better, please let me know. I’m so excited to continue on this journey with all of you. Tonight, I leave the country for research and adventure in Zambia, India, and Sri Lanka! Looking forward to sharing my experiences along the way.
