New Fund Launch!
Brym's Global Fund for Peace & Sustainable Worlds
Hello, Everyone! Hard to believe we’re already at the end of February. The sun is starting to peek through the clouds this week and Spring is hopefully on the way soon. Fingers crossed…
It has been a whirlwind of a month for the world to say the least. In the wake of drastic and life-altering cuts to funding for global programs like USAID, we now face massive gaps in support for global organizations building public health and sustainability projects. The decisions being made in the US do not only affect us here, they affect billions of people across the globe. While Brym cannot fill all the gaps being left, we are hoping to do our small part.
We’ve been working on this idea for a while, but we feel now is the time to put it out in the world and see what impact it can have.
Introducing: Brym’s Global Fund for Peace and Sustainable Worlds!
Over the course of 2024, Brym’s Global Working Group met monthly to share challenges and discuss potential projects that could be collaborated on together with ideas cross-pollinating beyond geopolitical boundaries.
This First-of-a-Kind Process was an Experiment in:
Participatory Project Development with members across multiple countries and continents working together on ideas.
Democratic Decision-Making dictating where Brym’s funding should go and how it should be structured.
Supporting Place-Based, Youth-Led Initiatives now being implemented by those leaders themselves in their respective communities.
Here’s a Brief Glance at the 3 winners of the Fund Awards from our process in 2024:
We are very proud to announce that as of today, 2 months after the Global Working Group’s voting, we have successfully disbursed the funds!
As we move into 2025, we will share more about each of these amazing projects and the leaders, Kneyone Murray, Andrew Banda, and Samuel Chijioke Okorie, making it all happen.
We hope to replicate our new process this year and in the years to come. In 2024, we supported this Fund through our own revenue generation, along with matches from amazing members of our network.
Now, we’re offering an opportunity for all of you to get involved in our next round. Subscribers who are willing and able to become ‘Paid Subscribers’ to this Substack will see their contributions go towards the next round of projects we put out into the world + support the operations within Brym that allow this to happen.
This is just the beginning. We have these 3 projects going live this year and our goal is to build a web of at least 30 interconnected projects across the world by 2030!! We look forward to having you all along for that journey.
Keep an eye out for our first three project spotlights and as always - feel free to check out our updated website to see what we’re up to.
